Today we are visiting the ancient capital of the
island. First stop for a coffee break at the mythological birthplace of Aphrodite, the
Goddess of love and beauty. Continuing via the coastal road we reach Yeroskipos village
where we visit the interesting church of Ayla Paraskevi of a unique architectural style.
Next, the monumental Tombs of the Kings are to be explored. Afterwards, via the western
coastal road of Paphos we pass by Ayla Solomoni - original Christian catacombs, the Pillar
of St. Paul, the remains of the late 4th century Basilica of Chrysopolitissa (Blessed of
the Golden City) by the side of the church of Ayla Kyriaki. Break for lunch. We then
continue to the House of Dionysos with the amazing mosaic floors which are considered
among the finest in the Eastern Mediterranean. Free time is given at the Harbour of Kato
Paphos for walking around the Castle area. On our way back, at the village of Yeroskipos
(The Sacred Garden) you may enjoy the "lokoumia" (Cyprus delights). Passing
through the Phassouri citrus and vine plantations, back to Limassol.
